ACELG - Australian Centre of Excellence for LG

The Australian Government contributed $8m funding for the Australian Centre of Excellence for Local Government (ACELG). The Centre's mandate is to enhance professionalism and skills in local government, showcase innovation and best practice, and facilitate a better-informed policy debate.

IKEN - Innovation and Knowledge Exchange Network is one of ACELG's premier programs. IKEN disseminates good examples of innovation and better practice in local government, and facilitates and encourages knowledge and experience sharing. Showcased case studies identify, highlight and promote innovation from across the local government sector nationally.

IKEN provides a range of methods and tools for information exchange, collaboration, mutual learning and shared insights. This includes forums, discussion groups, case studies, multi-media, opinion pieces and regular blogs with opportunity for comment, resources, links and networking where local government practitioners can readily interact with their peers and other stakeholders from across the nation.

EcoSTEPS was pleased to be engaged to research and prepare number of these case studies.
